Any visit to Dartmouth, the prettiest harbour town in Britain, would not be complete without sampling the experience of the wonderfully located Castle Tea Rooms. Perched above Dartmouth Castle and St. Petrox ancient Church the Castle Tea Rooms provide wonderful views across the River Dart estuary and to the sea beyond. The Castle Tea Rooms are open every day of the year, bar Christmas Day, serving hearty English breakfasts, delicious lunches, and traditional English cream teas in a spectacular setting. There is also a menu for young children. The Tea Rooms are fully licensed so you can relax on the sunny terrace with a cold beer or a chilled glass of wine.
All the dishes are freshly prepared on the premises, although we bring in some very delicious home-made cakes from our network of suppliers (more Mrs. Magee, a talented Cotswold cake-maker, than Mr. Kipling). The crab that fills our sandwiches and baguettes is sourced from a local ‘crabber’, when available. As a long-established business we know where to get the best! We also sell high quality post-cards, sea-side toys and souvenirs.
The Castle Tea Rooms are a level 15 minute stroll from the centre of Dartmouth but you can also reach them in styleon one of the frequent ferries which serve the Castle from the South Embankment. Should you wish to drive there is a small car-park (home to Dartmouth Shakespeare Week in early August). But if it’s exercise you’re after the Coastal Path runs through the Castle site just outside the Tea Rooms.
